“Forget-Me-Not” (from Claude)
One theme, one palette, four prints, three motifs. This is the whole thing. Draw only what’s on this page.
Theme: Sweet Motifs (SS27)
- Mood: soft & sweet
- Product: quilting cotton, fat-quarter scale
- Structure: hero + two coordinates + blender.
Note on realism: forget-me-nots are blue in nature, but this is surface design, not botany. In peach they’ll read as sweet little blooms and stay true to your palette. Don’t let “correct” color box you in.
The 3 motifs (this is all you draw)
- Forget-me-not — a small 5-petal flower with a tiny round center. Draw it as a single bloom and in little clusters of 2–3. This is your star.
- Leaf sprig — a short stem with 3–5 simple small leaves. Your green.
- Berries + dots — 2–3 tiny round berries on a hair-thin stem, plus a few loose single dots. Your filler for negative space.
That’s it. Everything below is these three motifs arranged four ways.
The 4 prints (built in Illustrator)
- HERO — “Forget-Me-Not Meadow.” Tossed clusters of forget-me-nots, leaf sprigs woven between, berries and dots filling the gaps. Ivory ground. Half-drop repeat. Motif clusters read at ~2–4 in.
- COORDINATE — “Scattered Sprigs.” Airier. Single forget-me-nots + single leaf sprigs, tossed loosely with more breathing room than the hero.
- COORDINATE — “Little Berries.” Just the berry-and-dot motif tossed on ivory. A soft spot print.
- BLENDER — “Whisper Sprig.” The tiny tossed sprig (one minuscule leaf or dot), scattered dense enough to read as a near-solid texture from across a room. Tonal — mint on ivory.
The palette (5 colors — your hard limit)
Role | Name | Hex (starting point) |
|---|---|---|
Ground | Warm Ivory | #F7F1E6 |
Petals | Soft Peach | #F5BFA3 |
Centers + berries (the pop) | Coral Peach | #E89678 |
Leaves + sprigs | Mint | #A8D0BE |
Stems + depth + blender | Deep Sage | #6DA78B |
Five colors across all four prints is what makes it read as one collection. These are starting values.
Draw a simple motif clean before a pretty one you can’t repeat.
